Recently I offered all candidates the opportunity to submit information about themselves. Ben Bryant is the first to take advantage of this offer. We hope that other candidates from both parties will take advantage of this FREE service. If other candidates aren’t smart enough to take advantage of free advertising we probably would not want to vote for them anyway.
Ben’s post…
My name is Ben Bryant and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate Crabby for allowing all of us that are currently running for office in Lancaster a forum to present our ideas. I believe that Lancaster needs more people like Crabby trying to push ideas directly from the candidates to allow voters to make an informed decision on November the 4th. Please go to the polls this November. Every year less than 25% of registered voters exercise their rights to vote. That’s not Democracy, folks. We have to preserve America ourselves… No one is going to do it for us.
Let me start by saying that I believe in Lancaster. I believe that we CAN DO BETTER! This is a great city with an amazing community spirit that can’t be beat. However, I see things daily that I believe we can join together as a community and fix. Why are our streets a mess? Why do we not have local business popping up left and right? Why do we not have to vote in or out another local tax every single election cycle?
If you have ever asked yourself these questions, Ben Bryant is your candidate for City Council. On my website (www.benbryant.9k.com), I have outlined in detail thirteen points that I hope to accomplish as city councilman within the first six months.
1. To have pro-worker legislation approved thereby making a better environment for all workers.
2. To enact legislation that would make 10% Bid Differential for Lancaster companies a mainstay with all Lancaster City projects.
3. To enact legislation that would make 5 to 7% Bid Differential for all City Projects that hire companies that pay 80% or more of employees health benefits.
4. Normalize the TIF program so that only businesses that offer real opportunity to the city are granted special incentives.
5. Enact legislation that would make all employers within Lancaster city limits provide proof through city tax department that all employees are legal to work here.
6. Apply for federal grant funds or find money for Fire/EMS Station for North End of Lancaster.
7. To have traffic lights synchronized on Memorial Drive.
8. Meet with firemen and discuss whether the city is providing for all of the necessary safety needs.
9. Meet with police and discuss public safety needs (neighborhood watch programs, etc.) for city.
10. To work to offer tax incentives and discounts for solar cells to be installed in all Lancaster City buildings, businesses and personal homes with the goal of positive energy creating buildings and dwellings.
11 . To find a viable use for the North School property or the land it sits on while maintaining the playground.
12. Meet with the City’s Street Department to discuss better utilizing Dura Patch Machine and other methods to spot fix potholes until repaving efforts can be secured.
13. I am intent on maintaining and even expanding the city’s public transportation system.

I chose to be the most accessible candidate for City Council and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you, Crabby and thank you citizens of Lancaster.
