From a chunk of stimulus money Governor Strickland will build more toll roads in Ohio.
WTH? The money to build these roads will be taken from taxpayer money and we will be paying for the stimulus money for GENERATIONS and Strickland has the nerve to charge us to drive on the new highways that we paid for? What an insult!
BTW: Did you know that $198,000,000 (that’s $198 MILLION) is being sent to Filipino WWII veterans? How many jobs will that provide Americans? (Corrected – I initially said it was billions – sorry I wasn’t awake yet).

I completely agree on the toll road idea with you Crabby. However, I was curious where you read about the Filipino WWII thing at…I haven’t been able to find it yet.

I initially say it on a news channel – it was on the crawl across the bottom. Here is one source where the Philipine government was welcoming it:

That can’t be true, Crabby, because I watched the President’s news conference, and he looked into the camera and said there was no money in the economic stimulus package going to special interest items, and politicians don’t lie.

I can only say, “It’s about Time”. We asked them to sacrifice along side us and they did.
According to the stimulus bill, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the U.S. government will grant a lump sum of 15,000 dollars for each of the United States-based Filipino veterans and 9,000 dollars for those living in the Philippines.
The Filipino veterans and their families have long sought benefits from United States, citing a promise to them by wartime U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
However, the United States declared in 1946 that more than 250,000 Filipino soldiers who fought under the American flag were not in active service for the American military during the war, denying them any benefits.

Right or wrong – it does NOT create jobs and should NOT be part of the stimulus bill.

Just another case of the “Change” we had coming from King Obama and his Neo Marxist friends. Michael Savage had it right from the beginning…liberalism is a disease in this country causing mass stupidity while allowing the person to stick up for the people sucking money from them. Socialism here we come!

I would say that is a Tremendous accomplishment for Obama then. He managed to do in less than a month what this country has Failed to do for over 60 years. I look for more Great accomplishments from him.
More likely you will find that this was slipped in by some congressman prior to Obamas arrival though. I don’t think a Bill has ever passed thru government in it’s original form and addressing only the item originally proposed. Votes can usually not be guaranteed without adding a little something for a persons pet project..

First, the only thing Obama has accomplished thus far in his presidency is ensure future generations will suffer financially due to government interference and spending. I truly hope the stimulus package has a positive affect on our economy, but only time will tell.
That said, the economic stimulus package is intended to spur the economy. The President himself said there was no special interest spending rolled into this bill. Obviously, this is not the case.
Whether we owe the Filipino veterans is not for me to say. But if we are going to pay them for their service to our country, then I wish that some lawmaker had the balls to stand up and say so and introduce a bill to make it happen instead of slipping it in the backdoor of the economic stimulus package to sneak it past the taxpayers.

We should immediately send payment to the descendents of the French soldiers who assisted in the cause of the colonists during the Revolutionary War. Come to think of it, the Irish immigrants (some not U.S. citizens) helped the United States in the Mexican War. I WANT MY MONEY!

How about the Chinese that helped in WWII. Oh, wait – they would be getting their own money.

The Chinese are probably where we got the loan for the stimulus package. They will be getting money from us for a long time.
