Yesterday it snowed. The news that I watched covered the snow and NOTHING else. The continuous coverage did not add any additional information. It served only to make a non-story seem like the Mayan calender simply had the end of the world date wrong. A year or so ago one station was advertising that they would cover the weather without the hype. That philosophy went by the wayside. Hype is ALL you get now. Yes, we do want them to cover the weather but there is no reason they should not also cover other news. It’s not like it was a zombie apocalypse.

I can’t recall if I have mentioned this one before, so here goes.
A couple of years ago, I was listening to the radio, and the breaking news was that they were going live to Licking County to report on the one-eighth of an inch of snow that was on the ground, although the streets were barely wet.
This mass coverage is done by the mass media to move attention from real stories to the lessor story about snow…… Weather is something you can not do anything about… just know that this is the time of year that we do get snow and ice…. so be prepared for it…..it is the season …
I see people run out to the local food stories buying enough food and snacks to load down a dump truck…with all of this mass craziness it makes it tough for those of us that are making are weakly stop for eggs, bread and milk. We have to fight the idiots that are clearing the shelves and making a shortage for the rest of us…..The stories sure enjoy this though… it gets all the out dated cans goods and box goods out of the store…. here is the real big joke…. people will stuff their ice box with food and then the power goes out and they loose it all…So what did they gain ? ? not a damn thing…..I love all those crazy people .. it gives me something to just shake my head and laugh at….then I think that these very people may be community leaders or worse… Doctors or other so called professionals ……We have a good laugh ! !

My memory is that the local hype kicked in after the media completely messed up with the blizzard of 1978. They took much heat for that blunder.
