Ohio’s Unemployment Rate Reaches 11.1%

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Ohio’s “official” unemployment figure has reached 11.1%. Strickland’s ‘turn Ohio around” campaign promise should be kicking in any minute now.

How is that “Hopey-Changey” thing working out for you?

Did I Hear That Right?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

From a chunk of stimulus money Governor Strickland will build more toll roads in Ohio.

WTH? The money to build these roads will be taken from taxpayer money and we will be paying for the stimulus money for GENERATIONS and Strickland has the nerve to charge us to drive on the new highways that we paid for? What an insult!

BTW: Did you know that $198,000,000 (that’s $198 MILLION) is being sent to Filipino WWII veterans? How many jobs will that provide Americans? (Corrected - I initially said it was billions - sorry I wasn’t awake yet).

Really - is that the Best You Could Come Up With?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

The best thing that Gov Strickland could come up with to get people back to work is a rail system to run passengers from Columbus to Cleveland?  Really - is that it?  Is that the best you could do?  Are you serious?

First of all it would take years - if not DECADES to buy the land and build the track.  How many will it employ and how many would ride the trail daily.  I suspect the former would be bigger than the latter.  I’m surprised he did not want to rebuild the canals!

Why not a spending that money to build the freight rail infrastructure?  We need to put our money (or is it China;s money) to work making Ohio a manufacturing friendly state.  I can think of HUNDREDS of things that Ohio could do to help build manufacturing and jobs - a passenger train line is NOT one of them.

Politicians Plan Differently than People

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

In his State of the State address governor Strickland laid out his “plan” to revamp education in Ohio.  He laid out improvements to be made, but did not lay out how he would pay for the improvements.

If we plan a vacation we determine where we are going, what we will see, hotels, and how we will get there.  We also have a plan as to where we are going to get the money for the vacation.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - this goes for government as well as science.  Every improvement will be paid for some form of taxes.

Frankly I found it quite puzzling how the gov laid out a plan that would cost the state a huge amount of money while the state is in disparate shape financially.  Is he relying on an Obama  “bailout”?

I wholeheartedly agree that we need to increase the number of days of schools, but you are going to have to pay teacher more as well as the janitor and lunch ladies.  The extended days will stretch into the hot days of Summer.  Are you going to pay for air conditioning?  More days means more power, water, and so one - big bucks!

Governor Stickland, it is not nice to ask everyone if they want to go to Disney World without telling them that they have to pay their own way!  We need to see the plan - the whole plan!

Big Meeting at Lemming Central

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Today there was a big cool-aid party (meeting) at Lemming Central (Dem HQ). They took up ALL of the parking at the private lot across the street preventing the customers from the owner of the lot from parking there. One of the parking lot owners told the people at the meeting that if they did not move they would have their vehicle towed. A whole herd of the lemmings streamed out of the meeting to move their vehicles including Governor Strickland. The gov was not parked in the lot, but his motor-home was obstructing the lot.

Latest Rasmussen Poll Results

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

The latest Rasmussen poll concerning politics in Ohio is out. A couple of interesting points:

  • McCain is now leading over Borack Obama by 10% when you take the “leaner’s” into account.
  • Governor Strickland’s popularity continues to plummet. His favorable rating now stands at 44% - down 3% in just 30 days. His rating is substantially less than Governor Taft at this point in his term.

Just in case you’ve forgotten, during the 2006 campaign, Ted Strickland set education as his “number 1 priority”. He said that if he did not fix Ohio’s School Funding that he would consider him a failure. Is it fixed?

State of Ohio
Rhodes State Office Tower
30 East Broad Street
Columbus, OH 43215

Dear Attorney General Dann,

We write to you tonight to ask that you resign your position as Attorney General of the State of Ohio.

We believe that your actions have irreparably harmed your ability to effectively serve the people of our great state.

The work of the Office of the Attorney General matters more, and is far more important, than any one person. In many, many cases it is all that stands between the people and the powerful. Sadly, we no longer have even the most remote hope that you can continue to effectively serve as Attorney General and that is why we are asking for your resignation.

We also want to make you aware that if you do not choose to resign, Democratic members of the Ohio House of Representatives will immediately introduce a resolution seeking your impeachment. We sincerely hope that this action will not be necessary and that you will act in the best interest of the people of Ohio by tendering your resignation Monday morning.

Sincerely,
Ted Strickland
