Crabby on the O/T Request by the Board of Elections
Posted by: crabby in Lancaster IssuesIt is reported by the Lancaster Eagle Gazette that the $31,000 requested by the Board of Elections “comes on the heels of a decision this month to eliminate 25 polling sites in the county.” Exactly WHAT in the world does reducing the polling locations have to do with employee overtime? The number of precincts has not been reduced!
I don’t see where the commissioners have any choice. Don’t believe that the hours are needed? Go in and watch the employees there. I have and the Board of Elections employees work hard long hours for months before and after each election! As I see it there are ONLY two choices – turn voters away or pay the overtime. I don’t think that you want to turn voters away so stop being difficult and do what you have to do.
