Have you EVER gotten your order correct at Taco Hell or Wendy’s? On my last Wendy’s drive through order we ordered one chili and a spicy chicken salad. We got two orders of chili and a spicy chicken salad without any chicken. Now I remember why I stopped going to Wendy’s!

I have been cooking since I was five years old and my dad taught me how to prepare calf’s brains and scrambled eggs. I just thought I would pass along a recipe that I developed recently. I call it Ancho/Onion Jam. I guess it’s like a condiment. I like it as a condiment on a sandwich of sliced chicken breast or smoked turkey. For a quick spread at a party you can simply pour it over a block of cream cheese and serve it as a spread on crackers. On August 10, 2009 I reported that Pizza Shop had reopened at the old Avondale market. It’s now closed. I have heard that the owner is in talks with another Zanesville pizza shop owner. Today is Robbie Burn’s birthday. It would seem like a great coincidence that today I received the news that Scottish Haggis will now be allowed into the United States. For those that do not know haggis is a Scottish sausage made from a sheep’s hear, liver, and lungs plus oatmeal, onions and spices and all boiled in a sheep’s stomach. As you can imagine it’s delicious. It is traditionally served on Robbie Burn’s Birthday. (click here) I decided to take Rooster’s up on their offer for $10 off their bill for vets today. I very much appreciate the thought. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Rooster’s – not sure why. Their wings were great and the price is about the same as everyone else – even those with MUCH smaller wings. I was impressed with the size – one of the drummies could have passed as a drumstick. It was huge! They let you mix sauces so we decided on a mix of “killer” and garlic. Maybe they should call this “vampire killer wings”. We all thought it was great except that the garlic sauce cooled down the killer sauce. Next time I will try “super killer” and garlic. I enjoyed the food and the thought – thanks again Rooster’s!! I have it on very good authority that the Lancaster Grill will reopen on East Main Street. A contractual issue has been resolved that will allow the restaurant to reopen. The owners are the same as before and they should reopen in a few weeks. Mmmmm…. Greek food! The Lancaster Eagle Gazette reports this morning that Golden Corral will break ground in Lancaster this fall. My experience with Golden Corral has been less than golden. Maybe ours will be better. I would have preferred a Hometown Buffer, but since they are in bankruptcy they are not expanding. The Pizza Shop is in the process of moving where Rudy’s Original Vs 2.00/Fat Willie’s/Rudy’s had been located on North Columbus St. PJ’s Pizza on Memorial Drive now sports a “for rent” sign. Is ANYONE surprised? I’m surprised it happen that fast, but not that they closed. I never saw the first piece of advertising for the business. |
