This from reader ChrisK: Please consider being a part of our effort to raise funds for pet masks.
We have a new business on board with the Oxygen Masks for Pets program. Paperback Exchange located at 109 N. Columbus Street, Lancaster will donate ALL proceeds from grab bag sales during the month of May. If we end up with more contributions to this program than we need to cover Lancaster we will purchase oxygen masks for some of the county firehouses. When you go to Paperback Exchange make sure you say hello to Pages the cat. Pages was rescued from the former Paperback Exchange that burned down on September 11 of last year.
It is tragic enough when a family loses it’s possessions to a fire. It is doubly tragic when a family loses a member of it’s family – a pet. The Lancaster Fire Department quite often rescues pets from fires. It would increase the pet’s likelihood of survival if the Fire Department could administer oxygen to the rescued pets. Unfortunately it is difficult to administer oxygen with an oxygen mask made for a human. A solution is available. Pet oxygen masks are available in kits of three sizes to meet the needs of various sized dogs and cats. Fat Willie’s Pizza and CrabbyFatGuy.com have teamed up to help. For every purchase made on a Tuesday during the month of May Fat Willie’s will donate 10% of the sale to the purchase of pet oxygen mask kits to be used by the Lancaster Fire Department.
